Stride Treglown Strengthens Practice-Wide Control Through Integrated Project and Financial Management

Stride Treglown adopts Project Flow to unify project accounting, resourcing and data entry across the practice.

The Challenge

Stride Treglown uses Milient's Project Flow, previously known as Rapport3.

The team at Stride Treglown were looking for a solution that could bring together project financial management, practice-wide financial oversight, fee forecasting, staff resourcing and timesheet management — without introducing unnecessary complexity or risk.

As Stephen Dolphin, Associate Director for Organisational Change, explains:
“Importantly we wanted an off-the-shelf solution without the business risk associated with many layers of bespoke implementation… we were looking for something that gave us more practice-wide management features in comparison to the current software.”

Their existing system lacked the breadth of functionality required to support more holistic, practice-level management.

Choosing Milient

Stride Treglown’s search led them to Project Flow, which quickly stood out as a strong alternative to their existing software.

Stephen explains that Project Flow:
“offered considerably more business functionality than our current system, and was at a similar price point”.

A critical requirement was seamless integration with Newforma. The ability to enter data once and have it flow automatically between systems was essential for efficiency and data accuracy.

This direct integration became a deciding factor in choosing Project Flow over other similar systems, with Stephen noting the depth of understanding between both platforms.

Benefits of Milient

Reflecting on the Newforma integration, Stephen explains: "Project Flow and Newforma seem to have a good idea of each other's setup, which certainly added to the professional feel of the integration, and neither charged additional money for the integration work, which again makes it feel like it really is 'part of the system'. As a company, we had very little required input, which was great".

The impact of the integration has been significant: "It has allowed Project Flow to truly become a single entry point for all of our data, which is significant because it has allowed us to retire many bespoke systems previously used – moving away from these has lessened overall business continuity risk."

Positioning Project Flow as the central system has also driven stronger engagement across the practice.

"Framing Project Flow as the single entry point drives people to it every day to raise new projects, add contacts, fill in timesheets, etc. It stops it from becoming 'just that timesheet system'—if people are going there every day, then the rest of the data input is more likely to happen as part of organic growth."

The Solution

Stride Treglown are continuously seeing tangible benefits — particularly around project accounting and data accuracy. Teams are working more collaboratively, with consistently up-to-date information, which improves confidence in project costings and financial oversight.

Significant time savings have also been achieved by automating previously manual processes.

Stephen explains: “We have configured the input into Newforma to do all of these in an automated manner, and so there is no longer a need for anyone to make project folders, add them to Newforma, populate project teams, etc.”

The overall experience has been highly positive, with Stephen highlighting the quality of support:

He praised the development and support teams in particular, describing them as “incredibly responsive and very helpful”.

We felt that people would actually be able to start using it without too much support, something that is important when encouraging people to use the system as much as possible
