AWW Transforms Resource Management with a Unified Practice Management System
The Challenge
AWW use Milient's Project Flow, previously known as Rapport3.
“One of our key issues was around resourcing,” explains Kate Brown, Financial Controller. “We needed a way to clearly and easily link our resourcing to the fee side of projects. Many of the tasks we needed to do were in different locations, for example holiday booking was managed separately to timesheets, so nothing really tied together and we had to do a lot of manual checks to make sure things were consistent.”
AWW’s existing approach was fragmented, with essential processes such as resourcing, timesheets, and leave booking handled in separate systems. As the practice grew, this disjointed setup became increasingly unwieldy and time-consuming.
Choosing Milient
Cost-effectiveness and ease of use were major priorities when selecting a new practice management system. After comparing several options, the team felt Project Flow offered the right balance of functionality and value.
“For the package we were taking on board, Project Flow was good value for money,” says Kate. “It was slightly cheaper than competitors, but still did everything they did, and the system delivered what we needed it to.”
Ease of adoption also stood out during the evaluation process. “We found it pretty simple to use. We were given a demonstration version to try, and it seemed quite intuitive. We felt that people wouldn’t need too much training and that people would actually be able to start using it without too much support, something that is important when encouraging people to use the system as much as possible.”
Benefits of Milient
Project Flow brought immediate improvements to project visibility and financial understanding across the team. Staff now have improved project visibility, allowing them to better understand performance and—in many cases—take a more active interest in profitability and how it can be improved.
Time savings are also being felt across invoicing and accounting. Previously, invoices needed to be manually duplicated into both the management system and Sage. Now, Project Flow’s Sage integration eliminates this double entry entirely.
Resourcing clarity has significantly improved as staff now book leave and complete timesheets within the same system, ensuring that time and absence are directly linked to project costing and planning.
Integration and Support
Since implementation, the experience with Milient has been highly positive.
“The support has been very good,” Kate says. “They’re very responsive. If something is urgent, they get back to you as quickly as possible, and even when something isn’t as pressing, their response times are very reasonable. I’ve been very pleased with the team at Milient.”
When asked whether she would recommend Project Flow to other practices, Kate's answer is simple and confident:
“Yes. I would.”
